The Department of Economics, Govt. Degree College Kotabagh is one of the oldest Departments of College. Department has been providing teaching at Undergraduate levels since establishment year of college, 2006 and Research Programmes since 2020. one research Scholar is doing PhD in the department. The Department of economics has been doing pioneering work in the field of teaching, research and extension activities meant for knowledge generation, knowledge sharing and knowledge dissemination.  

The Vision of the department is to impart students with the theoretical and substantive knowledge in order to make them grasp the nuances of socio-economic reality and participate as future academicians and Economist and it trains students to grasp the socio-economic structures, understand the economic processes, map the dynamics of socio-economic change and make sense of individual and collective experiences in their proper social context. The department places emphasis on integrated learning based on classroom lectures, interactive tutorials, use of audio-visual material, seminars, extension lectures and coordinated-multipronged internal Assessment.
